TV Answer Man, my favorite person on the planet – Mr. Dick Van Dyke – just turned 100!! Do you know where you can watch his old show from the 60s on streaming? – Carol Ann, Plano, Texas.
Carol Ann, you’re right. The irrepressible Dick Van Dyke celebrated his 100th birthday yesterday. The star of countless movies and TV shows continues to defy science with his incredible display of physical and mental nimbleness at his age.
Of course, Dick’s most famous show ever is The Dick Van Dyke Show which ran five seasons on CBS from 1961 to 1966.
The sitcom, which co-starred Mary Tyler Moore as his wife, featured Van Dyke as a comedy writer on a variety show headlined by an egotistical comedian named Alan Brady (played beautifully by Carl Reiner who also created the show). The Dick Van Dyke Show is a perfect time capsule for the early 1960s with its gentle humor and broad slapstick. If you’ve never seen it, you’ll love it, and relate to it, regardless of your age; it definitely stands the test of time.
But can you watch The Dick Van Dyke Show on streaming, you ask?
Answer: Yes! Peacock, the NBC-owned streaming service, now has all five seasons in its library. Just search on Dick Van Dyke in Peacock’s Search box and click.
Carol Ann, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
