TV Answer Man, thanks for taking our questions! Do you know where we can watch the Charlie Brown Christmas movie for our kids? And does it cost money? – Shelley, New Haven, Connecticut.
Shelley, Apple TV, the paid subscription streaming service, now has the rights to the Charlie Brown classic. But I have good news for you.
A Charlie Brown Christmas, the 1965 animated movie featuring the Peanuts gang celebrating the holiday, will be available for free on Apple TV+ this Saturday (December 13) and Sunday (December 14.)
Apple TV normally costs $12.99 a month, but no subscription is required to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas on those days. All you have to do is set up an Apple account if you don’t already have one.
If you are an Apple TV+ subscriber, you will be able to watch the movie anytime you want during the month, not just on Saturday and Sunday.
The film, which has become an American classic and viewing tradition over the years, features Lucy recruiting Charlie Brown to be the director of the Peanuts’ Christmas play. That might sound like an easy holiday chore, but this is Charlie Brown we’re talking about. The boy blunder says he wants to dance, not act, and he can’t believe that Lucy has ordered him to find the ‘perfect’ tree for the play at the last minute!
Of course, CB finds the ‘perfect’ tree but its imperfection is what makes it perfect, which is the movie’s message on what constitutes the true meaning of Christmas.
Shelley, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
