YouTube TV just announced that it has reached a short-term extension with Fox to continue carrying its programming. The deadline for a new pact was 5 p.m. ET today. The streamer did not reveal the length of the short-term agreement.
Update: Dispute Over. Fox & YouTube TV Sign New Deal
“We’ve reached a short-term extension with Fox to avoid service disruption for YouTube TV subscribers while we work on a new agreement. We’re committed to advocating on behalf of our members and will keep you posted on our progress,” YouTube said in a statement.
Fox on Monday (August 25, 2025) first threatened to pull its national and local channels from YouTube TV, charging the streamer with refusing to pay fair rates for its programming.
The TV Answer Man will have more details later.
Update #1: Fox still has its KeepFox.com web site up, suggesting a final deal may not be imminent. At YouTube’s official blog, the streamer has posted today’s new statement but has not changed the August 27 date/deadline for a new agreement.
Update #2: Swanni’s Analysis: Reading the tea leaves here after covering these things longer than some people reading this have been alive, it sounds like there’s a path to a long-term deal for Fox and YouTube TV but it’s not a slam dunk.
