YouTube TV Adds Trump Favorite OAN After FCC Chief Urges a Fox Settlement

YouTube TV today announced it’s adding the President Trump-friendly One America News Network (OAN) on a day when the administration’s FCC chief is urging the streamer’s parent company, Google, to settle a carriage dispute with Fox.

Update: Dispute Over. Fox & YouTube TV Sign New Deal

Fox has threatened to pull its programming from YouTube TV if the two companies don’t reach a new carriage agreement by 5 p.m. ET today. The pressure on Google to settle increased last night when FCC Chairman Brendan Carr posted on X that the company needs to make a deal or it will be a “terrible outcome.” Carr did not say in his post that Fox has the responsibility to settle; he specifically said it was up to Google.

The Carr statement could be seen as a shot across the bow at Google since the FCC could proceed with including live streaming services such as YouTube TV under the same regulatory restrictions that are now placed on cable and satellite. The Trump administration, which has frequently used the ‘Bully Pulpit,’ could also make things tough for Google in other agencies if it saw fit.

In a press release, YouTube TV said OAN would be launched on the service in the fourth quarter of this year. The company did not mention the Fox dispute as a reason for the addition.
