Deal Alert: Roku, Amazon Offering HBO Max For Free For 7 Days

The Roku Channel, the device maker’s streaming service for free ads-included programming, is now offering a seven-day free trial to HBO Max. And so is Amazon’s Prime Video.

That may not seem like a big deal but HBO Max is rarely available as a free trial. The streamer does not offer one at its web site and Amazon’s Prime Video and Roku haven’t either in recent weeks.

The free trials for HBO Max, which can be found under the subscriptions category at Amazon’s Prime Video and The Roku Channel, are good for a monthly subscription of the $9.99 a month ads-included plan or an annual subscription to the $16.99 a month no ads plan. So if you’re planning to watch for seven days and then cancel, get the annual plan with the free trial.

Note that regular rates will apply if you don’t cancel prior to the end of the free trial whether it’s for the monthly or annual plan.

With seven days free, you could watch the first episode of HBO Max’s new crime drama, Task, starring Mark Ruffalo; Sinners, the outstanding zombie drama film starring Michael B. Jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler; and a host of other programming including shows from Discovery, Turner Classic Movies, Adult Swim, and the Cartoon Network.

The $16.99 a month plan also includes live feeds of sporting events on TNT and TBS.
