TV Answer Man, the NFL season is starting and I’ve been waiting for a discount for the NFL Sunday Ticket for a returning subscriber. But nothing!! Is it too late? Do I have to pay full price? – Barney, Plano, Texas.

Barney, you are right. The 2025 NFL regular season starts tonight on NBC/Peacock at 8 p.m. ET when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys. The first NFL Sunday Ticket slate of games is this Sunday, September 7.

YouTube is offering the Ticket to new subscribers for $276, but the official price for returning subscribers is $378 for YouTube TV customers and a whopping $480 for those who get it via YouTube Primetime Channels. So, if you haven’t subscribed to the Ticket yet, and you are a returning subscriber, do you have to pay full price to watch the package of out-of-market Sunday afternoon games?

Answer: Probably not.

Over the last month or so, a few dozen readers have asked me via e-mail if there are any tricks to getting a discount if you are a returning subscriber. I have urged them to contact YouTube customer support – through its Chat service here or by phone at 1-833-389-2054 – and negotiate a reduced price. And several have followed up with me to say it worked. Just this week, one reader on X told me he was able to subscribe to the Ticket for $100 off by contacting YouTube as I recommended.

So it can be done. I can’t guarantee you that it will be successful but YouTube wants more subscribers and seems ready to make deals if asked.

Barney, I hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!

I tried that chat negotiation and got absolutely nowhere. YouTube TV flat out refused to budge. So I googled promotional discounts for NFL Sunday Ticket and found one through Best Buy. I simply opened a my Best Buy account for $40 a year and was able to subscribe to NFL Sunday ticket for $258. Total cost $298.
