The Fox One and new ESPN cord cutter apps are now live and open for business.
Fox One, which costs $19.99 a month and includes a seven-day free trial, offers live feeds of all Fox channels including your local network affiliate. With each channel, there is an ample supply of on demand programs as well. (There is no indication yet whether Fox One will offer live sports in 4K.)
Update: Fox’s Lauren Townsend says Fox One will have live sports in 4K with resolution “comparable to last year’s Super Bowl.”
I enrolled this morning in the Fox One seven-day free trial and found the process easy and efficient. (Subscribers to pay TV packages such as cable and satellite have free access to the Fox One app using their pay TV user name and password credentials.)
The live Fox One channels are:
Fox Sports
FS1
FS2
Big Ten Network
Fox Deportes
Fox News Channel
Fox Local Affiliate
Fox Weather
Fox Business
Fox Network
The new ESPN ‘unlimited’ app, which costs $29.99 a month and does NOT include a free trial, offers live feeds of all ESPN-operated channels plus select ABC sports. (It does not have a 24/7 live feed of your local ABC affiliate.) DIRECTV, Spectrum TV, Hulu Live and Fubo can access the app for free with their pay TV user name and password. (ESPN has not responded on the 4K issue when asked.)
Update: DIRECTV satellite and U-verse subscribers will get free unlimited access in the fall. Some satellite users say that the app is working for them now except for ESPN.+.
ESPN also has a $11.99 a month plan to access programming and select live feeds from ESPN+.
The channels available on the new ESPN app are:
ESPN
ESPN2
ESPNU
ACC Network
ACCNX
SEC Network
ESPNews
ESPN Deportes
ESPN on ABC
ESPN+
ESPN3
SEC Network+
In a launch promotion, ESPN app subscribers can add the ads-included Disney Plus and Hulu plans at no extra cost for 12 months. The regular monthly cost of the trio bundle is $35.99 a month with ads and $44.99 a month without ads.
The two networks are launching the new apps to attract cost-conscious consumers who have switched to less expensive streaming services such as Netflix and HBO Max.
The companies will offer a ESPN/Fox One bundle on October 2 for $39.99 a month.

The Directv espn unlimited is only available to Directv streaming customers, not the sattelite customers. Can use app for espn live channels in plan, but not the espn+ that makes it unlimited.
Directv satellite and U-verse subscribers get free access to the ESPN app in the fall.
