Hulu to Add 21 New Shows & Movies This Week – Here Are the 2 to Watch

Hulu this week (August 18-24, 2025) plans to add 21 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the two to watch, in my humble opinion:

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox: Two-Episode Limited Series Premiere
Release Date: Wednesday, August 20
Grace Van Patten stars in yet another retelling of the Amanda Knox murder case in which the American college student was convicted of murdering her housemate in 2007 while living in Italy. The show includes Knox as an executive producer so I think we know how it will wind up: With Knox (played by Van Patten) as the Kafkaesque victim of false imprisonment. And I don’t want to be too cynical here; there’s plenty of evidence that local Italian authorities framed her for political gain. But it will be interesting to see how Hulu keeps the tension percolating for eight episodes when the show’s final conclusion is never in doubt. Regardless, it’s must viewing for true crime buffs. The Knox mystery has been their Holy Grail now for almost two decades. (After the first two episodes debut this Wednesday, the following six episodes will air every Wednesday until their conclusion.)

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)
Release Date: Sunday, August 24
Jim Carrey is back with dual voice roles in this animated film about a blue hedgehog combating an evil scientist. Fun for the kids and some laughs for the parents, too.
