HBO Max this week (February 15-21, 2026) will add 12 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:
Dead of Winter (2025)
When to Watch: Friday, February 20, 2026
What Kind of Movie: Thriller
Who’s In It: Emma Thompson, Judy Greer
Emma Thompson stars as a recent Minnesota widower who stumbles upon a bound young girl while fulfilling her husband’s request to scatter his ashes in Lake Hilda. She plots to rescue the child but soon encounters a dangerous couple (Judy Greer, Mark Menchaca) who seem willing to do anything to keep her captive. Dead of Winter, which was released in select theaters late last year, was called a taut thriller by most critics who singled out Thompson and Greer for their efforts.
Neighbors
When to Watch: Sunday, February 15, 2026
What Kind of Show: Cinema Verite
Who’s In It: Neighbors
The new HBO doc series (6 episodes to air weekly) will eyes-drop on real-life warring neighborhood factions as they battle over animal rights, property boundaries and anything else you got. The producers hatched the idea after watching endless YouTube videos of neighbors battling over seemingly trivial troubles during Covid. With a production team that includes the brilliant Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme), Neighbors will likely be the talk of the town as well as in the chosen neighborhoods.
Murder in Glitterball City (Two Parts)
When to Watch: Thursday, February 19
What Kind of Show: True Crime Documentary
Who’s In It: David Domine
We should pick this documentary for the colorful title alone but the subject is equally as interesting. Louisville drag performer and drug dealer Jamie Carroll was found murdered in an airtight container in his Victorian mansion home in 2010. The investigation soon led to two men who may have had sex with Carroll but justice for the diseased stalls when local prosecutors struggle to determine which one actually did the crime. The two men accuse the other and the sudden discovery of a videotape puts the whole case in doubt. True crime buffs, this one is for you. Based on David Domine’s best-selling account of the murder and subsequent judicial hijinks.
