NBC this afternoon confirmed our report this morning that the 2026 Super Bowl and 2026 Winter Olympics will be available in 4K.

In a press release, the network said it will provide all-day 4K coverage of the two events on February 8, 2026. And it will be available in 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) on both special NBC 4K channels and the Peacock streaming service. (While NBC did not specify whether the 4K feed will be upscaled or native, it will be upscaled, meaning NBC will use a 1080p production and convert it to 4K for the home transmission.)

The 4K coverage of the Winter Olympics will begin February 8 at 7 a.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, followed by Super Bowl pregame coverage at noon ET and game coverage at 6:30 p.m. ET. (NBC will provide a 4K feed of the Olympics from Northern Italy throughout the games, not just February 8.)

The February 8 4K broadcasts will end with the ‘Primetime in Milan’ Olympics show at approximately 10:45 p.m. ET, finishing 17 hours of 4K HDR coverage on one day.

“When you’re about to present the biggest month in U.S. sports media history, you want to make sure you’re giving fans the best experience possible – so that’s exactly what we have planned on NBC and Peacock for Super Bowl LX, the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, and NBA All-Star Weekend,” Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, said in the release. “Building on NBC Sports’ long-standing commitment to innovation across all platforms, we’ll be celebrating the action on the field, slopes and court with our signature storytelling, state-of-the-art production, and dynamic streaming features that together bring these incredible sporting events to life for audiences at home.”

NBC also said Peacock’s Multiview feature will be added to mobile devices in time for the Winter Games. The feature provides up to four displays of programming on one screen.

Who Will Carry the Super Bowl In 4K?
YouTube TV has confirmed it will offer the game in 4K. DIRECTV, Comcast’s Xfinity TV, Charter’s Spectrum TV, Dish, Sling TV, Verizon and Optimum TV are also likely to offer the 4K Super Bowl since they have carried NBC events in 4K in the recent past. But we will have to wait for official confirmations.

Fubo, which is currently in a carriage dispute with NBC, will not provide the game in 4K at this time. That could change if the two companies settle before game time.

Watched the Big Air qualifying, the Opening Ceremony, and some of the figure skating on Peacock. The quality is phenomenal, best Olympics coverage I have seen so far, in picture quality that is. Glad I do not pay for cable anymore.
