Will Sling TV Carry NBA League Pass For the 2025/26 Season?

TV Answer Man, I know about Amazon getting a streaming exclusive for the NBA League Pass but I read your article about DIRECTV still getting it for satellite AND streaming. So what about Sling TV since it’s part of Dish? – Dante, Detroit.

Dante, that’s a great question. As we reported earlier this month, YouTube TV and Fubo will not be able to carry the NBA League Pass during the 2025/26 season because Amazon’s Prime Video has the exclusive streaming rights to the plan of out-of-market games effective September 30.

However, as we also reported, DIRECTV says it has been given an exemption to that exclusive arrangement and will be able to offer the NBA League Pass to both its satellite and streaming customers this season.

So, since Dish, a satellite TV provider, and Sling TV, a live streaming service, are part of the same company, will Sling get the same exemption? The streamer offered the NBA League Pass during the 2024/25 season.

We asked Sling this week for a comment, but unfortunately, did not get a clear answer:

“We’re always evaluating ways to deliver the best mix of content and value to our customers. While we don’t have anything to announce today regarding the upcoming season, our focus remains on giving customers choice and flexibility. Stay tuned for updates soon,” a Sling TV spokesperson told us via e-mail.

You would think that Sling would say it will have the NBA League Pass if it has the same exemption as DIRECTV. But that fact that it didn’t probably does not bode well for NBA fans who subscribe to Sling. (Of course, you can still subscribe directly to the NBA League Pass at its site or via Amazon without getting a DIRECTV subscription.)

The Sling spokesperson did say that you can now order the League Pass’ monthly plan at $16.99 a month via Sling, but the question is whether that option will be available starting September 30. (The NBA regular season starts on October 21.)
