Sling TV today launched a $4.99 a month ‘Day Pass,’ enabling TV viewers to watch the streaming service for a single day without any further obligation.

The initiative, which also includes a $9.99 Weekend Pass and a $14.99 Week Pass, is aimed at viewers looking to watch a big sporting event or prestige TV show without having to purchase a monthly subscription.

“This launch is about putting control back in the hands of the fans, whether it’s tuning in for college football, professional sports, award shows, or a spontaneous movie night, all without having to sign a long-term, binding contract,” Seth Van Sickel, senior vice president for product and operations for Sling TV, said in a statement. “With college football just around the corner, our new Day Pass offering is all consumers need to win on game day, for just $4.99.”

The short-term plans are restricted to Sling’s Orange package which includes ESPN but not Fox.

Sling TV’s base Orange and Blue plans cost $45.99 a month although the streamer normally offers the first month for 50 percent off.

Here’s a summary of the three new Sling TV plans:

Day Pass ($4.99): Instant 24-hour access. Targeted to sports fans excited about a specific game or viewers who want to watch a new show premiere.

Weekend Pass ($9.99): Access from Friday to Sunday. Targeted to sports fans interested in watching college football on Saturday and NFL on ESPN on Monday; also binge viewers.

Week Pass ($14.99): 7-day access. Target to fans looking to watch a new series or week-long sports tournament.
