Amazon’s Prime Video to Remove 27 Movies In One Week – Here Are the 3 Best

Amazon’s Prime Video plans to remove 27 movies after April 30, 2025. Here are the three best, in my humble opinion.

Touch of Evil (1958)

Charlton Heston stars as a Mexican prosecutor investigating a border town crime family in this Orson Welles directed classic film noir. Welles, who also plays a corrupt detective in the film, often trashed Touch of Evil because the studio seized the final edit from him. But the movie is overflowing with iconic performances, photography and tracking that only someone of Welles’ genius could produce. The opening seven minutes, which tracks a car bomb planted in a vehicle in the Mexican border town (it was actually filmed in Venice, California), has become one of the most famous and studied in cinematic history. If you’ve never seen Touch of Evil, do yourself a favor and watch it tonight. If you have seen it, watched it again. It is pure brilliance.

Sweet Smell of Success (1957)

In arguably his greatest performance ever, Burt Lancaster plays J.J. Hunsecker, a powerful New York newspaper columnist (based on Walter Winchell) who uses his position to achieve immoral aims, including blackmailing his sister’s boyfriend. Tony Curis plays Sidney Falco, a PR hustler who will do anything to get his clients in Hunsecker’s column, including assisting the columnist in the blackmail. The marriage made in Hell ultimately spins out of control, but the ride along the way contains some of the juiciest scenes and snappiest dialogue ever in film, thanks to playwright Clifford Odets who wrote much of the screenplay. Sweet Smell of Success is a cynical and dark drama that might make you question human goodness, but the film is so good, you won’t care.

Midnight Run (1988)

Who knew that teaming Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin would result in one of the best comedy teams in cinematic history? But it did. De Niro plays a former cop turned bounty hunter who’s hired to catch and return a mob accountant who embezzled a small fortune from his employers. The catch part is easy but the return isn’t which leads to one scene after another of pure hilarity.
