Peacock, the NBCUniversal-operated streaming service, this week (November 18-24, 2024) plans to add 16 new TV shows and movies. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion.
Based On a True Story (Season two)
The Peacock original comedy/thriller series, which is not based on a true story, returns for a second season with Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina as a down-on-their-luck married couple who start a podcast about a serial killer which includes interviews with the actual serial killer. The ‘true crime’ farce may sound a bit farfetched but Cuoco and Messina have chemistry and it says here Cuoco is a true comedy star and always worth watching. Season two debuts Thursday, November 21. Season one now available on Peacock.
Making Manson – Peacock Original
Forty-five years after the infamous Manson Family murders in Los Angeles, and seven years after their mastermind died, Peacock will try to shed some light on the whys behind the crimes with never-before-aired tape recordings of Charlie Manson over two decades. Early news reports say the tapes reveal that Manson was a serial killer long before the Sharon Tate killings. Debuts Tuesday, November 19.
Ambulance (2022)
Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II play adopted brothers who hijack an ambulance after robbing a bank. The scheme goes awry when they have to take a paramedic and cop hostage and the city of Los Angeles comes down on their heads. Directed by action king Michael Bay, Ambulance serves up a tense and thrilling ride with great performances from the leads and Eiza Gonzalez as the paramedic. Debuts Saturday, November 23.
