TV Answer Man, I read your stories on new movies coming on Amazon Prime Video. Do you need a Prime membership to watch those movies? — Ellie, Washington, D.C.
No Prime Membership? No Problem
Ellie, you’ll be happy to hear that any Amazon customer can purchase or rent select titles from the Amazon Prime Video catalog. You do not need a Prime membership ($14.99 a month) to do so.
When you buy a video from the Amazon Prime Video store, your purchases are automatically charged to your 1-Click payment method. Amazon says as soon as the orders completes, you can view the video in the Purchases & Rentals area of the site.
What Prime Video Offers With And Without a Membership
Amazon’s Prime Video offers thousands of videos for free to Prime members, but many of them can be ordered as a separate rental or buy purchase if you’re not a member. For example, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, the Tom Cruise spy thriller, is free to Prime members but you can rent it for $3.99 if you are not a member. You can see titles available for rent or digital purchase here on the Prime Video page.
