Paramount Plus, the streaming service, this week (December 30, 2024-January 5, 2025) plans to add 184 new TV shows and movies to its lineup. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

The Golden Globe Awards
Comedienne Nikki Glaser will host Hollywood’s annual salute to itself with The Brutalist, Emilia Perez and A Complete Unknown among the movies that will battle it out for the best film of 2024. It says here that no host will ever be able to replicate Ricky Gervais’ dismantling of Team Tinseltown when he hosted the GGAs in 2020. But Glaser has demonstrated on such venues as Thursday Night Football and Netflix’s Tom Brady roast that she’s willing to break a few eggs. Debuts Sunday, January 5 at 8 p.m. ET. (Requires Paramount Plus with Showtime plan; will also be on CBS.)

New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash
If you have the Paramount Plus with Showtime plan, you can watch CBS’ live New Year’s Eve special featuring country music’s hottest stars including Keith Urban, Shaboozey, Brittney Spencer, Kane Brown, and Jelly Roll. There will also be fireworks and the big ‘Note Drop’ from Nashville at midnight. Debuts Tuesday, December 31, at 8 p.m. ET.

80 For Brady
80 For Brady stars Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Rita Moreno and Lily Tomlin as four lifelong friends who set out on a journey to watch their favorite quarterback, Tom Brady, play in the Super Bowl. Before you run under the covers, or go into a Cover 3 defense, Rottentomatoes.com, which tracks critical reviews, gives the movie a score of 58, which means it can’t be too bad and perhaps even a decent diversion for a serious football fan. Debuts Saturday, January 4.

Also note that Paramount Plus will carry the Tony the Tiger college football bowl game between Louisville and Washington on Tuesday, December 31, at 2 p.m. ET. Yes, a Paramount Plus with Showtime sub is needed.
