Amazon’s Prime Video this week (October 5-11, 2025) plans to add seven new TV shows and movies to its lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:
John Candy, I Like Me (2025)
Release Date: Friday, October 10
The Amazon original documentary, directed by Colin Hanks (Tom’s son), revisits the joyful but all too short life of comedian John Candy who starred in such classics as Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Stripes and (along side Tom Hanks) Splash. Candy, who also shined in the sketch show, SCTV, was a larger-than-life (in more ways than one) comic figure and his zany performances on and off the screen are chronicled here by a slew of his peers including Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Bill Murray and Steve Martin.
Thursday Night Football: Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants
Release Date: Thursday, October 9 Kickoff at 8:15 p.m. ET; pregame coverage at 7 p.m. ET.
Amazon this week will exclusively stream the Thursday Night Football matchup between the 4-1 Philadelphia Eagles and the 1-4 New York Giants. The Eagles, who were upset yesterday by the Denver Broncos, are a 7.5-point favorite to win (seems a bit low to this reformed gambler).
Saquon (2025)
Release Date: Thursday, October 9
And speaking of the Eagles, Amazon’s sports unit this week will unveil its documentary on running back Saquon Barkley. The doc, which includes Martin Scorsese as an executive producer (!), will feature private videos of Barkley when he was rehabbing from ACL surgery five years ago up to last season’s triumphant Super Bowl victory.
