TV Answer Man, what’s the deal with Netflix tonight doing the first game of the baseball season? Will it be in 4K? What is the big deal about Netflix? What is so special that they have to do the first game, for crimey sake! – Tony, Las Vegas.

Tony, Netflix’s three-year deal to stream select regular season MLB games begins tonight (March 25, 2026) with the 2026 Opening Night game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants from picturesque Oracle Park in San Francisco. Since this will be the first MLB game ever streamed by Netflix, I thought it would be useful to provide some details on how you can watch it – and enjoy it ever more so.

Will the Netflix Game Be In 4K?
No, the Yankees-Giants game on Netflix will not be in 4K. But it will be in 1080p HD which provides a vivid and realistic picture albeit not as vivid and realistic as 4K. Sorry about that.

Can All Netflix Subscribers Watch?
Yes, the game will be available to subscribers in all plans, including the ads-included $7.99 a month plan.

What Time Will the Game Start?
Netflix’s live stream of the Yankees-Giants contest will start at 8 p.m. ET. But there will be a pre-game show starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Where Is the Game Being Played?
Oracle Park in San Francisco, a doable 50-mile drive from Netflix headquarters in Los Gatos, California, by the way.

Who’s Pitching Tonight?
