Spectrum TV, which yesterday announced a carriage deal to carry the Atlanta Braves in market, today has also added the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds to its lineup.
The three teams were previously carried on the financially failing FanDuel Sports Network but exited their relationship with the RSN (regional sports network) prior to this season. They soon launched a subscription streaming plan with MLB Media but until now had not secured cable and satellite deals.
A Spectrum communications manager today told the Traverse City-Eagle in Michigan that the cable op has an in-market agreement with the Tigers.
“We have an agreement with MLB to carry the Detroit Tigers, and our customers can watch the games on Detroit SportsNet,” Spectrum communications manager Chris Caporale told the Record-Eagle Wednesday afternoon.
Detroit SportsNet, which also will air Detroit Red Wings hockey, will be available on channel 213, the cable op said.
And Spectrum informed radio station WVXU that it also has a deal for the Reds in market.
“We have an agreement with MLB to carry the Reds, and our customers can watch the games on channels 304 and 1304,” a Spectrum spokesman said.
Official announcements for both teams are expected shortly. In addition, other TV providers, such as DIRECTV, are expected to add the teams in the next 24 hours.
