Atlanta Braves fans, your long wait is coming to an end. Spectrum TV today announced it has signed a carriage agreement to carry the team’s games in market in 2026.
Since the Braves exited its deal with the financially failing FanDuel Sports Network, the team has been without TV deals with traditional distributors such as cable and satellite. The Braves did launch its new BravesVision streaming plan for $99 a season.
However, Spectrum TV broke the logjam with today’s announcement. The cable op said today that fans should consult their on-screen guide for the channel number. The first game will be Friday when Atlanta plays Kansas City at 7:15 p.m. ET.
The delay in announcements from the cable and satellite operators apparently was driven by two financial factors: 1. The TV companies saved money in carriage fees by waiting. 2. The Braves generated more revenue from its streaming plan with customers signing up unsure whether the team would be available on their TV providers.
However, after the Spectrum TV announcement, it shouldn’t be long before DIRECTV and other TV services add the Braves to their lineups.
