Amazon’s Prime Video to Add 99 New Releases In April 2026: The 3 to Watch

The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!

Amazon’s Prime Video next month (April 2026) is adding 99 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

The Boys (Season Five)
When to Watch: April 7
What Kind of Show: Comedy/Adventure
Who’s In It: Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty
The Amazon original comedy/adventure series asks the question: What could happen if our superheroes decided to turn on us? And, we had to band together to stop them? The premise seems a touch perverse, even in today’s cynical age, but Amazon has successfully turned the idea now into five seasons and the critics seem to love it. The first four seasons generated scores of 85, 97, and 98 and 92 respectively at Rotten Tomatoes. The pleasing cast includes Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty and Antony Starr.

Jerry West: The Logo (2026)
When to Watch: April 16
What Kind of Show: Sports Documentary
Who’s In It: Jerry West, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson

The late Jerry West is arguably the most impactful person to ever grace the sport of pro basketball. The Logo (called that because the league used his image for the NBA logo which still stands) was a World Champion and perennial All-Star with the Los Angeles Lakers and then became one of the game’s greatest executives, masterminding elite Laker teams over several decades from Magic Johnson’s Showtime squad to the Kobe Bryant/Shaquille O’Neal era. This Amazon original sports doc chronicles his incredible career with interviews with legends such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as well as talks with West himself shortly before he died.

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning (2025)
When to Watch: April 3
What Kind of Movie: Action/Intrigue
Who’s In It: Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell

Cinematic daredevil Tom Cruise stars in the last installment of the nearly three-decade old Mission Impossible movie series. The secret agent here continues his quest to stop an Artificial Intelligence device from destroying all of humanity. (No, it’s not Alexa.) The supporting cast includes the usual gang of ever-resourceful geniuses including Ving RhamesSimon Pegg and Hayley Atwell. It’s not the best Mission Impossible (Personally, I think that’s Mission Impossible II, directed by John Woo.) But it’s fun from start to finish and a perfect send-off to one of cinema’s greatest financial performers. Lower the lights, and your expectations, and you’ll have a terrific time with Tom.
