DIRECTV announced tonight that it will carry the MLB teams that were previously on the financially failing FanDuel Sports Network. Both satellite and streaming customers will get their MLB team’s games in market.
The TV provider will also carry the Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners games. (The Nationals were previously on MASN while the Mariners were on ROOT Sports.)
The ex-FanDuel teams are: Braves, Reds, Tigers, Royals, Marlins, Brewers, Rays and Cardinals. Update: DIRECTV says the Braves deal should be announced today.
The FanDuel teams, the Mariners and Nationals, earlier this year launched their own streaming plans in conjunction with MLB Media. But with the addition of DIRECTV, and other TV providers making announcements today, cable and satellite subscribers can watch their hometown teams without buying a separate streaming package.
We will have more details on this development tomorrow.
