TV Answer Man, do you know what channels will be in the YouTube TV Sports plan? The devil is in the details, right? – Charlie, Painter, Virginia.
Charlie, you are right. YouTube TV yesterday announced that in the next week it will begin offering genre plans at prices lower than its traditional base package which costs $82.99 a month.
The slimmed down plans, which will include genre-specific offerings for sports, news and entertainment, among others, are similar to those previously launched by Comcast, DIRECTV and Fubo.
The genre plans are designed to offer consumers ways to watch their favorite channels at lower prices (albeit for fewer channels) than the traditional bundle.
The Sports Plan will be $64.99 a month, or $54.99 a month for new users. YouTube TV yesterday did not reveal the full lineup of channels for the Sports plan but Deadline’s Dave Hayes committed some journalism and asked the streamer for one. And here it is:
ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox, NBC and PBS; ESPN; ESPN News; ESPN2; ESPNU; ACC Network; SEC Network; Big Ten Network; FS1; FS2; NBA TV; Golf; NBC Regional Sports Networks; USA; NBCSN; CBS Sports Network; PickleBall TV; T2; TUDN; TBS; TNT; truTV; and NFL Network.
The surprise is that regional sports networks are listed. YouTube TV has not been a fan of the RSN, carrying just the four NBC-branded ones. It’s possible that the Sports plan will include those in their respective markets but not include other RSNs.
Among the omissions: MLB Network which YouTube TV hasn’t carried since 2023 due to a carriage dispute.
Charlie, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
