Netflix, Amazon Prime Debuting 2 Must-See Sports Documentaries This Week
Netflix and Amazon’s Prime Video this week are releasing two sports documentaries that should be must viewing for any fan. And here they are:
Jerry West: The Logo (2026)
When to Watch: Thursday, April 16
Where to Watch: Amazon’s Prime Video
Who’s In It: Jerry West, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson
The late Jerry West is arguably the most impactful person to ever grace the sport of pro basketball. The Logo (called that because the league used his image for the NBA logo which still stands) was a World Champion and perennial All-Star with the Los Angeles Lakers and then became one of the game’s greatest executives, masterminding elite Laker teams over several decades from Magic Johnson’s Showtime squad to the Kobe Bryant/Shaquille O’Neal era. This Amazon original sports doc chronicles his incredible career with interviews with legends such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as well as talks with West himself shortly before he died.
Untold: Jail Blazers (2026)
When to Watch: Tuesday, April 14
Where to Watch: Netflix
Who’s In It: Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire and Bonzi Wells
The late 1990s Portland Trail Blazers were one of the league’s most talented teams but the squad’s legacy still rests in the chronic misbehavior of a handful of top players including Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, and Bonzi Wells. They were arrested (pot possession); threatened a referee; cursed out the coach; and made obscene gesture towards fans. One sportswriter dubbed the crew the ‘Jail Blazers’ and the dubious nickname stuck. This Netflix documentary, from its always interesting Untold series, features interviews with Wallace, Stoudamaire and Wells as they recollect how a great team eventually became undone by itself.
