When Does TV Coverage Of 2026 Winter Olympics Begin? (Sooner Than You Think)

TV Answer Man, I read your article post on NBC’s 4K coverage of the Olympics on Super Bowl Sunday. But I am confused. Is that when the Olympics on TV start? Don’t they start before with the opening ceremonies? Please help me out here because I love the Olympics!! I appreciate what you do for us with your frequent updates. – Mario, Fairfax, Virginia.

Mario, that’s a great question. NBC announced yesterday that it will provide upscaled 4K coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics from Italy on February 8, the same day it will also air the Super Bowl in the format.

The network’s announcement sounded like its coverage of the games would not begin until that day. But, actually, NBC will begin broadcasting Olympic events on Wednesday, February 4, two days before the actual opening ceremony.

Here’s the TV schedule for day one, February 4, 2026 (All Times Eastern)

Men’s Downhill Skiing (Training) – 5:30 a.m. on Peacock
Curling: Canada vs. Czechia – 1:05 p.m. on Peacock
Curling: Estonia vs. Switzerland – 1:05 p.m. on Peacock
Curling: Great Britain vs. Norway – 1:05 p.m. on Peacock
Curling: Sweden vs. South Korea – 1:05 p.m. on Peacock
Best of Milan Cortina: Highlights at 5 p.m. on Peacock

On day two (February 5 2026), there will be a fuller schedule with more curling, women’s hockey, snowboarding and other sports. The majority of the events on day two will be Peacock exclusive, but USA Network and CNBC will air a few. (We will provide more schedule details as we get closer to the events.)

Note: The day one and two broadcasts will be in HD, not 4K. NBC’s 4K feeds of the Games will not begin until Sunday, February 8.
