HBO Max next month (November 2025) plans to add 112 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Eddington (2025)
Release Date: November 14
Covid era politics take center stage in this Ari Aster-directed thriller film about a New Mexico mayor named Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal) who mandates a city-wide lockdown to limit the virus’ spread. Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix, pictured above), the town’s sheriff, opposes the lockdown so he decides to run against Cross and the battle royale leads to neighbor on neighbor warfare and allegations of personal and political abuses. Eddington’s plot may be too raw and recent for some but the film strikes at the heart of a troubled period in our nation’s history.

Alex vs. ARod (HBO Original)
Release Date: November 6 (part one; part two runs November 13 and part three, November 20.)

There are few contemporary sports figures more polarizing than Alex Rodriguez, the one-time baseball great whose use of performance enhancing drugs led to multiple suspensions and disgrace. However, despite his setbacks, ARod managed to survive and succeed, eventually becoming a highly-paid baseball analyst for Fox Sports, among other profitable ventures. This HBO original documentary, which includes candid interviews with Rodriguez, examines what makes ARod/Alex the controversial figure that he continues to be today.

One to One: John & Yoko
Release Date: November 14

And speaking of controversial, the HBO original documentary looks back at the tumultuous marriage of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the year following The Beatles break-up. The two dove head-first into political activism – triggering criticism from some fans, and even old bandmate Paul McCartney – while John relearned how to make music as a solo artist.
