Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+, Amazon Adding 8 New Releases Today: The 3 to Watch

Netflix, Peacock, HBO Max, Paramount Plus and Amazon’s Prime Video today (January 20, 2026) are adding eight new shows. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Handsome Devil: Charming Killer
Where to Watch: Paramount Plus
What Kind of Show: True Crime Documentary
Who’s In It: Wade Wilson, Brian Ross
The Paramount Plus original documentary chronicles the strange case of Wade Wilson, a 25-year-old Florida man who became an online sensation after brutally murdering two young women. The show, which was written and produced by former ABC investigative reporter Brian Ross, explains how some females on social media were captivated by Wilson’s ‘bad boy’ looks, despite his despicable behavior, and were willing to believe he was innocent of his crimes. (A similar situation is now occurring in New York with Luigi Mangione who’s on trial for murdering a health care executive.)

What Kind of Show: Police Drama
Who’s In It: Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander
Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander (pictured above) star as a police detective and medical examiner respectively who team to solve crimes in Boston. The show, which aired for seven seasons on TNT in the 2010s, was a huge hit with women viewers, many of whom caught a certain vibe between the two stars. (If you know what I mean.) Now Netflix’s female fans can catch on. The excellent supporting cast includes Lorraine Branco (Goodfellas, The Sopranos) as Harmon’s mother; Bruce McGill (Animal House) as Harmon’s former partner; and John Doman (The Wire) as a crime boss.

NBA Basketball: Lakers at Nuggets
Where to Watch: Peacock (Exclusive)
When to Watch: 10 p.m. ET
Who’s In It: Luka Doncic, Jamal Murray
Luka Doncic and LeBron James and their Los Angeles Lakers visit the Denver Nuggets in this exclusive Peacock streamcast of the NBA. Doncic leads LA with 33.3 points a game while Jamal Murray paces the Nuggets with 25.9 points per contest. Denver, 29-14, is now the third best team in the Western Conference. The Lakers are sixth with a 25-16 record. Good matchup of two teams likely to make lots of noise in the 2025/26 playoffs.
