49ers vs. Seahawks: Will You Get a Better Picture From Fox Or the Fox One App?

TV Answer Man, I’m a big Niners fan and I want you to tell us whether we should watch the game on Saturday on our local Fox channel or the Fox One app? Which one will have the better picture? – Tom, San Jose, California.

Tom, as you know, the San Francisco 49ers will play the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday (January 17, 2026) at 8 p.m. ET at Lumen Field in Seattle. The winner will advance to the NFC championship game against the winner of Sunday’s Rams-Bears game.

Fox will broadcast the 49ers-Seahawks game and it will offer both 4K and HD feeds. If you have access to a 4K feed on your TV provider, or the Fox One app, I would strongly encourage you to watch it. The 4K picture, even though it will be upscaled 4K (from a 1080p HD picture), will be better than what you would see from a high-definition signal from your Fox affiliate. (You can learn more about which TV providers will offer the game in 4K here in our article.)

As for the question of whether the Fox One picture would be better than your Fox affiliate, it would because it will be available in 4K. If the network wasn’t doing the game in 4K, I would say there is little difference between the Fox One HD picture and the Fox affiliate HD picture. Unlike the ESPN Unlimited app, Fox One is not offering HD games in 1080p, only 720p HD. And that’s a shame because the Fox app costs $19.99 a month; you would hope to get a better quality picture.

Tom, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
