TV Answer Man, I saw your article on Fubo’s Regional Sports Networks with the complete list. Could you do that for YouTube TV? I am thinking of subscribing but I am not sure. – Cliff, Newark, New Jersey.
Cliff, YouTube TV, the multi-channel live streaming service, has more than 100 channels for $82.99 a month. (There’s now a time-limited promotional offer for $23 off each of the first three months.) The streamer has many exclusive and unique features and products, including the NFL Sunday Ticket. However, it does not carry many regional sports networks, which is critical for fans of local MLB, NBA and NHL teams.
Here are the RSNs it does carry:
NBC Sports Bay Area
NBC Sports Boston
NBC Sports California
NBC Sports Philadelphia
Monumental Sports Network
YouTube TV used to carry NBC Sports Chicago, but the channel went out of business at the end of September 2024. The streamer did not replace it with the new Chicago Sports Network which carries the White Sox, Blackhawks and Bulls.
YouTube TV also does not carry the FanDuel Sports nets (formerly known as Bally Sports), SNY, Yes Network, NESN, Altitude, Marquee Sports Network, MASN or SportsNet LA, among others. If your home team is important to you, YouTube TV might not be the answer. Rival streamers Fubo and DIRECTV Stream carry far more RSNs.
Why Doesn’t YouTube TV Carry More RSNs?
Google, which owns YouTube TV, has never publicly stated any specific reason for not carrying more regional sports networks. However, as noted previously, the live streamer has the Sunday Ticket as an exclusive and it likely believes that’s sufficient to attract sports fans, at least during the football season. It’s also noteworthy that YouTube TV does not have MLB Network in its lineup, either.
Cliff, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
