Netflix this week (January 11-17, 2026) is adding 14 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

The Rip (2026)
When to Watch: January 16, 2026
What Kind of Movie: Police Drama
Who’s In It: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon (pictured above) play Miami cops whose investigative team finds $24 million in drug money stashed away in a safe house. The team soon splits over what to do with the ill gotten largesse, leading to deep divisions and much worse. Director Joe Carnahan says the film was inspired by a friend’s real-life experiences, and the two classic crime dramas, Heat and Serpico. If The Rip is half as good as those two movies, this will be ripping good fun.

One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5
When to Watch: Monday, January 12
What Kind of Show: Documentary
Who’s In It: Duffer Brothers, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown

The last episode of Stranger Things debuted less than two weeks ago but Netflix is already going back to the well with this new documentary on the making of the final season. The 122-minute doc will chronicle the creative process in developing the final plot lines as well as offer an intimate look at the cast members’ final farewells.

Veronica Mars (Seasons 1-3)
When to Watch: Wednesday, January 14
What Kind of Show: Drama/Mystery
Who’s In It: Kristen Bell

Surveys have shown that some Netflix subscribers like to stream certain shows as background noise while they do errands around the house. Think Friends, The Office and so on. Well, Veronica Mars is your perfect ‘background noise’ show. The CW/UPN mystery, which first aired 20 years ago, stars a young Kristen Bell as a high school student who moonlights as a private investigator. It’s a cute series that doesn’t challenge your Gulliver too much so you can skip a few scenes from time to time without really missing much. Bell shows why she became one of Hollywood’s top stars, exhibiting a sweet appeal with a light comic touch.
