Fox Threatens to Pull Channels From YouTube TV In Carriage Row

Fox is threatening to pull its programming from YouTube TV this week in a carriage dispute between the companies.

Update: Dispute Over. Fox & YouTube TV Sign New Deal

The network, which just launched a standalone app for all Fox programming, called Fox One, said on X this afternoon:

“Football season and Fall premieres are coming, and YouTube TV may no longer carry (your local Fox station) YouTube TV customers could miss NFL, College Football, MLB on FOX and more…Say NO to losing FOX on YouTube TV, visit KEEPFOX.com.”

The blackout would include all local Fox affiliates plus national networks such as FS1, the Big Ten Network and Fox News, according to a Fox spokesperson.

The Fox web site, KeepFox.com, does not say when the blackout could begin if the two companies do not reach a new carriage agreement. But YouTube said in a blog post that the deadline for a new pact is Wednesday, August 27, at 5 p.m. ET.

“At YouTube TV, our goal is to provide the best in live sports, news and entertainment. A key part of that commitment is our partnership with content providers like Fox, which allows us to carry a wide variety of channels. Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date and we are in active and ongoing negotiations to continue carrying their content. Fox is asking for payments that are far higher than what partners with comparable content offerings receive. Our priority is to reach a deal that reflects the value of their content and is fair for both sides without passing on additional costs to our subscribers,” YouTube wrote.

“We want to be transparent about these discussions: if we are unable to reach a new agreement by 5:00 PM ET on August 27, 2025, Fox channels including Fox Sports, Business, and News would become unavailable on YouTube TV. Content from these channels saved in your library would also become unavailable at this time,” the streamer added.

YouTube TV said a $10 credit would be offered if the blackout was extended.

At the Fox web site, KeepFox.com, the network said Google, which owns YouTube TV, is trying to use its ‘outsized influence’ to strike a favorable deal.

“While Fox remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with Google’s YouTube TV, we are disappointed that Google continually exploits its outsized influence by proposing terms that are out of step with the marketplace. We are alerting FOX viewers who are YouTube TV subscribers that they could lose access to much of their favorite news, sports, entertainment and local station programming unless Google engages in a meaningful way soon,” Fox says at the site.

The TV Answer Man will monitor this situation and report back here if anything significant changes.

Naturally, if this carriage row not be resolved, I’m sure Google/YTTV will discount their subscription rate by an appropriate amount, effective 5:00 PM ET on August 27, 2025. After all, the customer comes first, right?

Seems like it’s always the customer that gets screwed over. One would think that with as much money these behemoths make off of us, they could get this resolved before it even becomes an issue. Please just get it resolved!

I only subscribed to YouTube TV so I could get the Fox channels. It will be hard to change as I like the service, but I will change if I find I cannot watch my favorite programs. And of course, the sports are included too. Would hate to miss those!

I recently switched from Directv to You Tube TV and love Fox News on it as well as other channels it has but if they drop Fox News I will switch again. Get the deal done and keep Fox News on You Tube TV, I’m sure if it’s not there will be a lot of customers leaving.

We will leave You tube tv if Fox is cancelled. Fox was definitely a must when we signed and continues to be a GREAT source of news.

We switched to YouTube TV because it offers Fox. We will leave and find a different channel that offers Fox if it becomes unavailable on YouTubeTV. Do NOT cancel YouTube TV as you will lose many who use it.
