West Wing Hits Netflix; NBA Cup On Prime: Top TV Picks For Tuesday

By Phillip Swann
The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!

It’s only Tuesday? Dear God, four more days until the end of the week so we better find some great TV to pass the time. Here are the top three new releases today (December 9, 2025) on the top streaming services; the best shows in primetime on the four TV networks; and some Best Bets from the basic cable lineup.

Top 3 New Shows Added Today to Streaming Services

1. The West Wing (Seasons one to seven) – Netflix
Release Date: Today, 3 a.m. ET

Martin Sheen stars as the American president in this seminal NBC series that ran seven seasons from 1999 to 2006. The show, which was created by Aaron Sorkin (who wrote the first four seasons), delivers a behind-the-scenes depiction of the people and politics that shape our lives. While The West Wing careened off the rails a bit after Sorkin’s departure, it’s still an addictive treat for anyone who loves politics. The supporting cast includes Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, John Spender and Richard Schiff.

2. NBA Cup Doubleheader – Amazon’s Prime Video
Release Date: Today, 6 p.m. ET

Amazon tonight will stream the first two games in the NBA Cup quarterfinals as an exclusive. The doubleheader will matchup the Miami Heat vs. the Orlando Magic at 6 p.m. ET and the New York Knicks vs. the Toronto Raptors at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Cup’s quarterfinals are known as the Knockout round because the winners will advance to the league tournament’s semifinals in Las Vegas this Saturday. The NBA Cup Finals will be played on December 16.

3. Renfield (2023) – Peacock
Release Date: Today, 3 a.m. ET

If you love crazy Nic Cage, you’ll love Renfield. Cage plays an over-the-top Dracula in this horror comedy featuring Nicholas Hoult as the Eternal One’s not-so-humble assistant who’s charged with bringing him new souls to devour. Renfield is not for everyone’s taste, so to speak, but it’s a bloody funfest if you don’t take it too seriously.
