Saturday’s Best Bets On TV (Fox, ABC, Apple TV, Netflix)

The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!
The Saturday TV lineup normally is dominated by sports and today (December 6, 2025) is no exception. Here are today’s must-watch sports, a few Best Bets in new movies added this week by the top streaming services, and a look at what the TV networks are doing in prime time:
What to Watch: Today’s 3 Best Bets
1. Big Ten Championship: Indiana vs. Ohio State
Time: Saturday, 8 p.m. ET
Where: Fox, Fox One
Okay, this is an easy pick for the biggest game of the weekend. The Big Ten Championship game. Top ranked Ohio State (12-0) is a 4.5-point favorite to defeat second ranked Indiana (12-0). However, ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives Indiana a 50.6 percent chance of winning, perhaps because the game will be played at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. My pick is Ohio State; they clearly have the best team in college football this year. By the way, Fox will air the game in 4K on Fox One and select TV providers.
2. The MLS Cup
Time: Saturday, 2:30 p.m. ET
Where: Apple TV (free!)
Inter Miami CF led by soccer legend Lionel Messi plays the Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the 2025 MLS Cup. To watch Messi in the championship game is worth the price of admission, but…Apple TV is actually streaming the game for free! Pre-game coverage starts at 1:30 p.m. ET with the match set for around 2:30 p.m. ET.
3. SEC Championship: Alabama vs. Georgia
Time: Saturday, 4 p.m. ET
Where: ABC, ESPN Unlimited App
The game will pit 10th ranked Alabama vs. 4th ranked Georgia from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia (11-1) is a 2.5-point favorite and ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives Georgia a narrow 51.5 percent chance of winning. ESPN will provide a 4K feed to select TV providers.
Top 2 New Movies Added This Week to Streaming
1. Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning – Paramount Plus
Cinematic daredevil Tom Cruise stars in the last installment of the nearly three-decade old Mission Impossible movie series. The secret agent here continues his quest to stop an Artificial Intelligence device from destroying all of humanity. (No, it’s not Alexa.) The supporting cast includes the usual gang of ever-resourceful geniuses including Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Hayley Atwell.
If you don’t have a Paramount Plus subscription, note that the streamer is now offering a free one-week trial. This is a great way to watch the new Mission Impossible movie without paying a dime.
2. Jay Kelly – Netflix Original Movie
George Clooney stars in this Noah Baumbach-directed comedy/drama about a famous actor who reflects on his life’s choices after a mentor unexpectedly dies. Adam Sandler plays his manager who accompanies him on his soul-searching journey through Europe. Jay Kelly may sound like a bit too much Hollywood navel-gazing but the early reviews say the Clooney-Sandler chemistry sparks magic on screen, resulting in a poignant and often funny depiction of the fragility and futility of all lives.
What to Watch On Free TV
Pluto TV this week torched the traditional holiday movie with the addition of 34 action-packed films which it says will allow “viewers to release the rage and kick back with an adrenaline-packed lineup designed to deliver carnagely-cathartic entertainment.” The 34 new films, which the ad-supported free streaming service is featuring under the banner, ‘The Holidays Are Brutal,’ include Blade, The Equalizer, The Equalizer 2, The Rock, The Terminator, Terminator 2 and Bad Boys. Pluto is adding the bombastic 34 to a list of previously carried action films for its ‘The Holidays Are Brutal’ collection.
Shows to Catch Up On
If you’re looking for a new show to love, check out Paramount Plus’ Landman and Apple TV’s Pluribus. Landman, which stars Billy Bob Thornton as a Texas oil man, is now three episodes into season two while Pluribus, which stars Rhea Seehorn in Vince Gilligan’s new sci-fi drama/comedy, is now six episodes into season one. I highly recommend both shows.
