Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max, Hulu & Paramount to Add 40 New Releases This Weekend – Here Are the 5 to Watch

Netflix, Amazon’s Prime Video, Paramount Plus, Peacock, Hulu and HBO Max this weekend (October 23-26, 2025) plan to add 40 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here are the five to watch, in my humble opinion:

Weapons (2025) – HBO Max
Release Date: Friday, October 24
The blockbuster supernatural horror film follows the spooky tale of 17 third-graders who suddenly walked en masse out of their suburban Pennsylvania homes at 2:17 a.m. ET. The community soon searches for a cause, and responsible party, only to discover the mystery is far more complex and threatening than anyone ever imagined. The film, which stars an ensemble cast including Julia Garner, Amy Madigan and Justin Long, generated nearly $300 million at the box office and amassed scores of glowing reviews. And now it will be on HBO Max. What a great way to start the pre-Halloween weekend.

It: Welcome to Derry (HBO Original)
Release Date: Sunday, October 26
The horror continues with the HBO original series, It: Welcome to Derry, the latest in the ‘killer clown’ It saga based on the Stephen King novels. The eight-episode series promises to explain the origins of the Pennywise monster (played by Bill Skarsgard, pictured above) while, of course, scaring the bejesus out of you.

A House of Dynamite (2025) – Netflix
Release Date: Friday, October 24
Idris Elba stars as the president of the United States who must formulate a response to an incoming missile headed for Chicago in 18 minutes. Directed by action queen Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker – both riveting films), A House of Dynamite promises to be a rip-roaring thrill ride of a movie, the kind that once would dominated the box office. But this is 2025 and you get to watch it at home thanks to Netflix. Elba’s co-stars include Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Tracy Letts, Jason Clarke and Jared Harris.

Nobody Wants This: Season 2 – Netflix
Release Date: Thursday, October 23
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody star in this romcom Netflix original series about two lovers lost in LA. Season two promises a twist with Brody’s real-life wife, Leighton Meester, joining the cast as Bell’s longtime rival, officially making this a Gossip Girl reunion.

NBA Doubleheader – Amazon’s Prime Video
Release Date: Friday, October 24, 7:30 p.m. ET.
Amazon, which last year signed an 11-year deal to offer NBA games on Prime Video, will tip off its hoops coverage with an opening week doubleheader on Friday, October 24. The Boston Celtics will visit the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. ET and the Los Angeles Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves at 10 p.m. ET.
