YouTube TV Offers $10 Credit If It Loses NBC ‘For Extended Period’

YouTube TV, which charges $82.99 a month for its base programming package, has alerted subscribers that it will provide a $10 credit if it loses all NBCUniversal channels for “an extended period of time.”

The current carriage agreement between the two companies expires on Tuesday, September 30. If a new agreement is not signed by then, YouTube TV could lose the NBC affiliates, USA Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo and others. This means that YouTube TV subscribers would be unable to watch live sports such as NBC’s Sunday Night Football and Saturday college football games, among other programming.

In a post at its web site, YouTube TV writes that “active negotiations” are ongoing to sign a new pact. But it warns that a NBC blackout is possible if it does not “reach a deal that’s fair for both sides.”

“Our current agreement with NBCUniversal is approaching its renewal date, and we are in active negotiations to continue carrying their content. Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides and allows us to preserve the value of our service,” YouTube TV states.

The streamer continues: “If we’re unable to come to an agreement with NBCUniversal, their content may become unavailable on YouTube TV as early as September 30, 2025. We’re committed to continuing to work with NBCUniversal to reach an agreement, but if their content becomes unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $10 credit.”

NBC yesterday started running an on-screen message during college football games that warns of the possibility of a YouTube TV blackout. The network says the streamer has refused to pay fair market rates to carry its channels.

“Google, with its $3 trillion market cap, already controls what Americans see online through search and ads – now it wants to control what we watch,” NBC said in a statement.

The NBC channels that YouTube TV could lose on Tuesday are:

  • NBC
  • MSNBC
  • USA
  • Bravo
  • Golf
  • CNBC
  • Oxygen True Crime
  • E!
  • Cozi
  • SYFY
  • American Crimes
