YouTube TV Loses Univision In Carriage Fight

YouTube TV said last night that its carriage agreement with the Spanish-language network, Univision, has expired and the network’s suite of channels have been removed from its lineup.

In a post at its web site, the live streamer said: “Unfortunately Univision’s current demands aren’t supported by their performance on YouTube TV over the last four years, and despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach a fair deal. This means that TelevisaUnivision content has been removed from YouTube TV, including Univision and UniMas, as well as any Library recordings you have from these channels.”

YouTube TV said if Univision remains unavailable “for an extended period of time,’ it will offer Spanish base subscribers a $6 credit or refund.

Univision has not issued a statement in response to YouTube TV’s post. However, the network said this previously:

“Google’s YouTube TV plans to remove Univision from its basic bundle on September 30th and will force Hispanics to pay another $15 a month – an 18 percent “Hispanic Tax” – to access Univision. We’re fighting to protect fair access to the content Hispanic audiences depend on.”

The Univision channels that are no longer available on YouTube TV are:

  • Univision
  • UniMas
  • TUDN
  • Galavision
  • FOROtv
  • De Película
  • De Película Clásico
  • Bandamax
  • Telehit
  • Telehit Música
  • tlnovelas
