Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Paramount Plus, Peacock and Amazon’s Prime Video this weekend (September 18-21, 2025) will add 27 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here are the four to watch, in my humble opinion:

Black Rabbit – Netflix
Release Date: Thursday, September 18

Jason Bateman (Ozark) jumps back into his Netflix crime garb to team with Jude Law in this limited series about two brothers whose Manhattan restaurant is entangled with organized crime elements. If that sounds suspiciously like an arc from Ozark, so be it. Bateman was terrific as the Mob-compromised accountant in Ozark and the trailer looks delicious.

Superman (2025) – HBO Max
Release Date: Friday, September 19

David Corenswet stars as the Man of Steel in director James Gunn’s reimagining of the Superman film series. Also written by Gunn, Superman is served up as an anti-hero who must rehabilitate his image via the help of his trusty girlfriend, played with spunk by the always spunky Rachel Brosnahan. Despite the modern spin, the movie was a box office blockbuster, amassing more than $600 million worldwide. The winning cast should get the lion’s share of the credit, including Nicholas Hoult as billionaire Lex Luthor.

Swiped (Hulu Original)
Release Date: Friday, September 19

Lily James (so good as Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy) stars as Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and former CEO of dating app Bumble who vowed to change the rules of dating. (Good luck on that one.) The film explores Herd’s difficulties in breaking the old boys network of online seduction. (She became a billionaire so something worked.)

Tulsa King, Season 3 Premiere – Paramount Plus
Release Date: Sunday, September 21
Sylvester Stallone plays a New York-based Mafia lieutenant who’s tasked to build a crime empire in faraway Tulsa, Oklahoma after a falling out with the bosses. The show, which blends drama and comedy (the drama usually works best), is a great showcase for the 70something Stallone (the last of the big time movie stars) and the supporting cast is filled with fun turns including Dana Delaney, Frank Grillo and Neal McDonough. Seasons one and two now available on Paramount Plus; catch up!
