Deal Alert: Be Careful Of Peacock’s $49.99 For One Year Offer

TV Answer Man, I got an offer from Peacock for 12 months for only $49.99. Is that a good deal? I want to watch the NBC football games on Peacock. – Ron, Evanston, Illinois.

Ron, I’m glad you asked that question. Peacock has launched an e-mail campaign which offers 12 months of its Select plan for just $49.99, which is a $30 discount from the regular price of $79.99 a year.

But here’s the problem: The Select plan does not include live sports, such as NBC Sports’ broadcasts of Sunday Night Football, NBA basketball, and Big Ten football. The plan also does not include movies or Peacock originals; it only has current and past NBC and Bravo shows and a small selection of other TV shows.

Peacock recently added the Select plan, which normally costs $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year, when it increased the price of its Premium plan (which does include live sports) from $7.99 a month to $10.99 a month and its Premium plus plan (which also includes live sports and limited ads) from $13.99 a month to $16.99 a month.

I’m afraid that some people, like Ron, might think the Select plan is the old $7.99 Premium plan which includes live sports. So be careful before deciding to redeem this offer. If you want live sports from Peacock, you will need a minimum of the $10.99 a month Premium plan.

The Peacock e-mail promo.

Ron, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
