Will DIRECTV Add the New Mix Channels to Satellite?

TV Answer Man, do you know if the new Mix Channels on streaming will also be available on satellite? – Eric, Austin, Texas.
Eric, as you know, DIRECTV this week launched six Mix Channels for streaming customers, including Signature plans and MyGenre Pack viewers. Mix Channels, which have been available on DIRECTV satellite for nearly two decades, offer up to four channels on one screen with the audio highlighted on one of the four.
The new streaming Mix Channels include Sports (ESPN, FS1, etc.); League Sports (MLB Network, NFL Network, etc.); News Mix (CNN, Fox News, etc.); Business (Bloomberg, CNBC etc.); Kids Mix (Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, etc.) and Locals where available (ABC, CBS, etc.)
I’ve received a few questions from readers asking if all the new Mix Channels would be available on satellite or will it just be the legacy Mix Channels (News, Sports). The answer, alas, is that only streaming customers will get the six new Mix channels, according to a DIRECTV spokesperson. There will be no new Mix channels on satellite.
This is another example of how DIRECTV is emphasizing streaming over satellite. The company sees streaming as a growth industry while satellite continues to lose subscribers.
Eric, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
