TV Answer Man, saw your story on Amazon’s free sports channels. How about DIRECTV’s free sports channels on its free service? How many do they have? – Gene, Pittsburgh.
DIRECTV’s free streaming service, called MyFreeDIRECTV, is available to both DIRECTV subscribers and non-DIRECTV consumers. The free lineup includes more than 110 live channels and on-demand programming. You can watch the free channels by creating a DIRECTV account at DIRECTV.com and then going to the DIRECTV Stream app or this web page.
MyFreeDIRECTV now has 31 live sports channels. The list includes NBC Sports Now, which airs shows such as The Dan Patrick Show and the Dan Le Batard Show, among other NBC Sports-produced programming; Fox Sports, which offers a mix of studio and news shows from the network; ESPN 8 – The Ocho, the niche sports channel inspired by the film, Dodgeball; ACC Digital Network, which offers live and replay coverage of Atlantic Coast Conference games; SportsGrid Live, which includes updates on the latest betting odds for sports; Rome, which features shows with the sports personality, Jim Rome; PBTV, which features pickleball play, and Surfer, which self-evidently covers the surfing industry.
DIRECTV’s free service does not have as many sports channels as some of its free rivals do. For example, Amazon’s Prime Video offers 48 free sports channels as we note in our report. DIRECTV also doesn’t carry some of the better-known freebies such as the NFL Channel and MLB Channel. But DIRECTV has promised to expand the lineup.
