Disney announced today that it will launch its new ESPN standalone streaming service on August 21, 2025, the same day that Fox says it will debut Fox One, its new app for cord cutters.
The new ESPN streaming service, which will be separate from its current ESPN+ offering, will include live feeds of all ESPN networks as well as on-demand programming.
The ESPN unlimited service will cost $29.99 a month and Disney will include an offer at launch to bundle Disney+ and Hulu at no extra cost for the first 12 months.
Disney said today that ESPN+, which costs $11.99 a month, will now be known as the ESPN Select plan. Existing ESPN+ subscribers will automatically become Select subscribers.
The August 21 launch date will allow both ESPN and Fox to provide their coverage of the NFL and college football before the 2025 seasons begin.
Disney announced yesterday that it is buying the NFL Network and NFLRedZone linear distribution rights in return for the NFL getting a 10 percent stake in ESPN. The two popular NFL channels are expected to be part of the new ESPN standalone app but it’s unclear when and for what price.
