Roku Launches Howdy, a $2.99 a Month Ads-Free Streamer

Roku, the maker of streaming devices and TVs, today launched an ads-free streaming service called Howdy for $2.99 a month, the company announced.
Howdy, which can be streamed on Roku devices and TVs as well as at TheRokuChannel.com, will feature programming from studios such as Lionsgate, Discovery, Warner Bros and FilmRise.
Shows and movies featured as examples in today’s Roku press release were Mad Max: Fury Road, The Blind Side, Weeds and Kids in the Hall. The company said the Howdy lineup would include “iconic rom-coms, medical dramas, ‘90s comedy, feel-good classics, and more.”
“Priced at less than a cup of coffee, Howdy is ad-free and designed to complement, not compete with, premium services,” said Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood. “We’re meeting a real need for consumers who want to unwind with their favorite movies and shows uninterrupted and on their terms. Howdy is a natural step for us at Roku, extending our mission to make better TV for everyone, by making it affordable, accessible, and built for how people watch today.”
Roku also offers free, ad-supported channels and on-demand programming at The Roku Channel.

It’s basically all you can get from Roku’s free channels. I will put up with ads over this. Not worth 2.99 if they had better shows and movies I would go for it. I abhor commercials but my mind has to be entertained, not repetition of the same old shows and movies. Thank you for the info.
