YouTube TV Sports Plan Channels List: $54.99 a Month – Is It Worth It?

YouTube TV hopes to revolutionize the TV industry by offering cheaper genre plans by subject such as sports, news or entertainment. The idea is to appeal to cost-conscious cord cutters who otherwise would not subscribe to a cable, satellite or multi-channel live streaming service. Today, let’s take a look at YouTube TV’s Sports Plan which is now available for $54.99 a month for the first 12 months.

The Sports plan, which is normally $64.99 a month, comes with 34 channels. Here’s the list:

ABC
FOX

“You can also get YouTube TV’s 4K plan for an extra $9.99 a month.”

You Can Add the NFL Sunday Ticket
There is a large lineup of services that you can add to your Sports Plan by paying an additional monthly fee including YouTube’s exclusive NFL Sunday Ticket plan. (The cost has yet to be set for the 2026 season.) You also can get YouTube TV’s 4K plan for an added $9.99 a month. To see the complete list of available add-on channels, click here.

With the Sports plan, you also get the streamer’s Multiview feature, unlimited DVR recording and six household accounts with three simultaneous streams.

What Are the Sports Plan’s Strengths?
The Sports Plan lineup includes most of the usual suspects in a sports fan’s lineup such as the local networks, ESPN, FS1, TBS and TNT, NFL Network, Golf Channel and NBA TV. And YouTube TV says it will add free access to the ESPN Unlimited app sometime this fall.

YouTube TV is the exclusive carrier of the NFL Sunday Ticket.

What Are the Sports Plan’s Weaknesses?
There are some notable (and painful) omissions here. The MLB Network and NHL Network are not available in the plan; they are baseball and hockey’s official channels so it seems a bit strange to offer a ‘Sports Plan’ without them. The Sports plan also offers only four regional sports networks (RSNs) – the NBC branded RSNs in Philadelphia, California, Boston – and that’s a big miss, too. However, if you’re a loyal fan of a local sports team, you could subscribe to its standalone streaming plan.

Is YouTube TV’s Sports Plan Worth $54.99 a Month?
YouTube TV is now offering its complete package of base channels for $67.99 a month for the first three months to new customers. So for just $13 more per month for the first three months, you could get more than 100 channels, not just 34. (The regular price after the three months is $82.99 a month.) However, if the monthly savings of $13 works for you, the Sports plan has most of the basics, particularly if you’re okay with subscribing separately to a team’s regional streaming plan.

I wouldn’t call YouTube TV’s sports genre plan a fan’s dream but it beats subscribing to a larger package if you only care about sports.
