TV Answer Man, will there be any 4K for the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, MLB or PGA in June? We need more 4K. – Jeff, Oscoda. Michigan.
Jeff, I have good news and bad news for you. The NBA Finals, which are airing on ABC, are not available in 4K nor will there be any national broadcasts of Major League Baseball in the format in June. (Fox is likely to produce next month’s All-Star Game in 4K, however.)
The Stanley Cup Finals will also not be in 4K nor will Saturday’s Belmont Stakes on Fox.
Now that was a lot of bad news, but here is the good news. DIRECTV has announced that it will air NBC’s 4K feed of next week’s U.S. Open Golf Tournament. The event, which will take place at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, will run from Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, June 15. Consult your DIRECTV guide for channel numbers and times.
There’s a good chance that other providers such as Comcast and YouTube TV will provide the 4K feed as well so we will update this article when we get more information.
Jeff, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
