TV Answer Man, I saw an ad for Frndly TV that said you could get more than 50 channels for just $6.99 a month. Do you know anything about it? Is it legal and all? — Marianne, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Marianne, Frndly TV, a legal streaming service, promotes itself as a family-friendly streaming service, thereby the name, Frndly, which is a play off the word, friendly.

The company offers 53 channels for $6.99 a month if you pay annually. If you pay monthly, the cost is $7.99 a month. But note that the $6.99/$7.99 plan only includes standard-definition picture quality. If you want high-def, the cost is $7.99 a month if you pay annually and $9.99 a month if you pay monthly. There’s also a Premium plan for $9.99 a month if you pay annually and $11.99 a month if you pay monthly. The Premium plan offers nine months of DVR recording as opposed to three months for the basic HD plan.
