TV Answer Man, now that Fubo has raised its prices, does it still have the best deal for getting a regional sports network? Are they cheaper than DIRECTV Stream? – Steve, Fairfax, Virginia.

Steve, Fubo, the multi-channel live streaming service, has raised the price of its three English-speaking packages by $5 a month each. That means the regular rate for Fubo’s Pro plan, the cheapest plan it offers with regional sports networks (RSNs) included, is now $84.99 a month.

Since Fubo carries 31 RSNs, second in the live streaming category only to DIRECTV Stream, which has 33 regional sports channels, it has been the choice of many sports fans looking to cut costs. Fubo’s Pro plan has been cheaper than DIRECTV Stream’s Choice plan, the least expensive plan it offers with RSNs included.

But is Fubo’s Pro still less expensive than DIRECTV Stream’s Choice?

Answer: Yes. But the difference has narrowed.

Fubo’s Pro plan now costs $84.99 a month but there also is a regional sports fee that could be as high as $15.99 a month in some markets. That means that Pro will set you back $100 a month, not including taxes. (Note that Fubo is now offering $20 off the first month.)

DIRECTV Stream’s Choice is $114.99 a month but it does not have a RSN fee. So it’s still roughly $15 a month more than Pro. That’s not a huge amount of money, but over a year, it would come to $180.

One more thing to consider: Fubo does not have some of the RSNs available on DIRECTV Stream, including Spectrum SportsNet LA (LA Dodgers) and Monumental Sports (Washington Wizards, Capitals).  So before subscribing, make sure your RSN is included in your market.

Below are the Fubo RSNs:
