Why Wait to Order the 2025 NFL Sunday Ticket?

TV Answer Man, YouTube is taking orders for the NFL Sunday Ticket. Should I order now because they might raise prices before the season, right? – Gene, Pittsburgh.

Gene, you’re right. YouTube is already taking orders for the 2025 NFL Sunday Ticket, six months before the regular season begins. The price is $378 for the full season if you bundle the plan with YouTube TV, the multi-channel live streaming service, while it’s $480 if you buy the Ticket separately via YouTube Primetime Channels. The YouTube TV rate is $1 less than last season and the YouTube Primetime Channels price is $1 more.

I understand your temptation to lock in the current price by subscribing now. But I would recommend that you wait.

Why?

Why You Shouldn’t Order the Sunday Ticket Now
It is true that YouTube last year raised the Ticket’s price by $30 roughly three weeks prior to the first week of the regular season. But the streamer last year also offered some discounts before implementing that rate hike. For example, in April 2024, YouTube TV offered new customers $170 off the price of the 2024 NFL Sunday Ticket if they bundled it with a YouTube TV subscription. The promotion also included $100 off if you purchased it separately with YouTube Primetime Channels.

And it wasn’t just new customers. YouTube also provided lower prices for returning customers before the $30 price increase.

So, the odds are good that you will be able to get the Ticket for less than $378 with the YouTube TV bundle and less than $480 with Primetime Channels.

Sunday Ticket: Turn Off Your Auto Renewal
This is why I also recommend you turn your auto renewal setting off if you subscribed last year. If you don’t, YouTube at some point will charge you the current retail price and you will not be eligible to get a discount. It’s in the terms of agreement. YouTube doesn’t say on which day the auto renewal will happen, but trust me, it will happen.

By canceling auto renewal now, your subscription will not renew and you will have the flexibility to purchase the 2025 Sunday Ticket at a discount. Also take note that there’s no benefit in auto renewing. YouTube does not give you a discount or any other perk for staying a subscriber from one season to the next.

Save Money On the Sunday Ticket
The Sunday Ticket is an expensive plan; in fact, it’s the most expensive package in the industry. So, I recommend waiting in the likelihood that you will save a few dollars this season.

Gene, hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
