Peacock, the NBCUniversal-operated streaming service, this week (February 16-22, 2025) plans to add seven new TV shows and movies to its lineup. Here’s the one you definitely don’t want to miss, in my humble opinion:

SNL: 50th Anniversary Special
At 8 p.m. ET tonight (February 16), Peacock will simulcast NBC’s three-hour 50th anniversary live tribute to Saturday Night Live which is expected to include new and old sketches as well as appearances from SNL legends such as Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase and Kristen Wiig, among others. You can argue that SNL is feeling its age these days, but you can’t argue that it hasn’t delivered more laughs and cultural touchstones than any other show since its inception. SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels deserves all the praise and tributes the network (and anyone else) can muster. He’s our least known American/Canadian icon and we are lucky to have him. Thank you, Canada. SNL 50th Anniversary Special Debuts at 8 p.m. ET on February 16.
