Netflix, Hulu, Max, Peacock, Amazon’s Prime Video and Paramount Plus this weekend (February 13-16, 2025) plan to add 69 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here are the five most interesting, in my humble opinion:
The White Lotus – Season 3 (HBO/Max Original Series)
There arguably has been no more entertaining, albeit pulpish, TV series over the last few years than the first two seasons of The White Lotus. Created, written and directed by Mike White, the social satire set in a luxury hotel has featured an array of memorable performances from Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, Aubrey Plaza, Sydney Sweeney and many others. Now in season three, White pulls together a new cast including Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Parker Posey, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, and Michelle Monaghan. They will head to a resort in Thailand where barbs will be hurled, bodies will collide (in more ways than one), and, in all likelihood, someone will perish under mysterious circumstances. Debuts on Max on Sunday, February 16.

Yellowjackets, season three premiere* – Paramount Plus/Showtime original
The Showtime original drama tells the tale of a group of girl high school soccer players whose plane crashes in the uncharted northern wilderness. The feisty females soon go all Lord of the Flies on each other, engaging in actions that will haunt them for years after their rescue. I watched season one and found Yellowjackets original and daring with strong acting from the ensemble cast, particularly Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey and Christine Ricci. However, season two stalled for me due to an overemphasis on their current lives. But the producers say season three will get back to the wild which means more action and more Lord of the Flies. Debuts on Paramount Plus with Showtime on Friday, February 14 with two episodes. Future episodes to air on following Fridays.

SNL: 50th Anniversary Special & SNL Music Special
On Sunday, February 16, Peacock will simulcast NBC’s three-hour 50th anniversary live tribute to Saturday Night Live which is expected to include new and old sketches as well as appearances from SNL legends such as Dana Carvey, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig, among others. Two days prior to the special, Peacock on February 14 will host a live musical special from New York’s Radio City Music Hall in honor of SNL with an eye-popping lineup of performers, including Eddie Vedder, Bad Bunny, Backstreet Boys, Jack White, Bonnie Raitt, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and the B-52s. SNL 50th Anniversary Special Debuts at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 16. SNL Music Special Debuts at 8 p.m. ET on February 14.
Cobra Kai: Season 6 Part 3 (Series Finale) — Netflix Original Series
And speaking of prolonging one’s shelf life, this will be the third in three installments of the final season of the Karate Kid reboot. (Part two debuts last November.). Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are back in their original roles as karate rivals, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, turned grown men who continue to live out their childhood ambitions through the younger set. Debuts on Netflix on Thursday, February 13.
SLY LIVES! Aka The Burden of Black Genius (Hulu Original)
The Hulu original documentary will chronicle the erratic but brilliant career of Sly Stone, the leader of the 60s/70s soul band, Sly and the Family Stone. Despite producing such classic money makers as Dance to the Music, Stand and Everyday People, the musician suffered from severe depression and drug abuse and even wound up homeless for a stretch. The doc, directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, examines how Stone spiraled out of control but still managed to survive. Debuts on Hulu on Thursday, February 13.
