TV Answer Man, love your updates on TV and old shows! Do you know how you can watch Cheers on a streaming service? Is it available somewhere? — Todd, Fairfax, Virginia.
Todd, Cheers, the NBC comedy which ran 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993, starred Ted Danson as a former baseball pitcher turned lothario bartender who matched wits with various femme fatales (Shelley Long, Kirstie Alley) while slinging drinks to a motley crew of quirky customers (Kelsey Grammer, George Wendt, John Ratzenberger).
The show, which also introduced Woody Harrelson to a mass audience, was a ratings and award magnet, collecting numerous Emmys and the final episode was watched by more than 90 million people! And after Cheers closed its taps for the last time, the show’s vibe lived on through Grammer who reprised his Frasier Crane role for 11 seasons in the Frasier sitcom from 1993 to 2004.
But can you watch Cheers on streaming? Answer: Yes!
Pluto TV, the free ad-supported streaming service, is now offering the first five seasons of Cheers on its platform. You can start watching them here. For free! And if you want to invest in a $7.99 a month subscription to Paramount Plus’ ads-included plan, you can watch all 11 seasons of the NBC show. Note that Paramount Plus is now offering a one-week free trial.
Todd, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
